Moscow 22nd May 2004
Well
after a fantastic gig in St Petersburg, it was all
aboard the train to Moscow for a gig at club Gaudi
that night. We had the option to fly to Moscow but
we decided that it would be easier to get on the train
as the flight and travel to and from the airports
etc. would take just as long and would be far less
comfortable. We arrived in Moscow early evening with
enough time to relax in the hotel before the gig.
The
weekend of gigs was organised by a guy called Sergey
Kolosov and his company GoEast promotions in conjunction
with the UK promoters- Koolwaters.
On
arrival at the gig I was amazed at the venue. It was
an old grain storage building in the middle of an
ex-industrial area of Moscow. The main room was long
and dark and complemented excellently by the amazing
production and lighting put in place. The crowd were
amazing and there seemed to be a good mix of people
in the venue. I would estimate that there were about
2000 people in the venue.
The
warm-up DJ was playing an amazing blend of deep progressive
house and really warmed the crowd up perfectly. By
1am it was time for me to take to the decks. On the
commencement of my first tune- two massive rusty oil
drums either side of me shot flames about 8 feet into
the air and the packed club went crazy…what
an entrance!!
Moscow
has a really strong trance following and so the music
I was playing got an amazing reaction. The lighting
and visuals really added to the show. Tracks like
Randy Katana- In Silence and the Gabrielle and Dresden
mix of No One On Earth got amazing reactions. I cant
tell you how much of a delight this gig was and by
the end of my set I was amazed that 2 hours had passed
by so quickly.
As
Lisa Lashes took over the decks with some blistering
techno tracks I went down to sign a few t-shirts and
copies of the Gatecrasher compilations. I was great
to see the awareness of my Djing and production in
Moscow and I cant wait to get back out there.
Id
like to thank everyone who made it down to the gig
and especially to GoEast promotions for putting on
one of the best international gigs I have done this
year…cheers guys!!
